Mayor Carlos Rodriguez

Yorba Linda Mayor Carlos Rodriguez brings over two decades of public service and private sector leadership to our City Council — including extensive experience in balancing budgets, supervising staff, and successfully guiding community and business organizations.

COMMUNITY SERVICE

Mayor Rodriguez has twice been chosen by the City Council to lead our city as Mayor.  Throughout his service on the City Council, Carlos has focused on protecting the safety and quality of life for the people of our community.  This commitment has helped Yorba Linda to consistently rank as one of California’s five safest cities.

Mayor Rodriguez also continues to prioritize investments in fire prevention, parks and vital infrastructure to reduce traffic congestion.  He led the fight to defeat a misguided high density housing plan that would have jeopardized the quality of life for many Yorba Linda neighborhoods.

In addition to his City Council responsibilities, Mayor Rodriguez represents the residents of Yorba Linda on the South Coast Air Quality Management District (AQMD) Governing Board. South Coast AQMD is the regulatory agency responsible for improving air quality for large areas of Orange County, Los Angeles, Riverside and San Bernardino counties.  In this role, he has worked to strengthen environmental standards while opposing burdensome regulations that would create financial hardship for families and small businesses.

Prior to his election to the City Council, Mayor Rodriguez served on Yorba Linda’s Parks and Recreation Commission as well as an advocated for seniors on the California Commission on Aging.

PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE

Mayor Carlos Rodriguez currently serves as the Senior Vice President of the Building Industry Association of Southern California Baldy View Chapter. His professional experience also includes years of collaborating with a variety of businesses and federal, state, and local government agencies while serving as a senior executive of a statewide public affairs firm.

Mayor Rodriguez also served as an adjunct faculty member and taught communication courses at California State University, Fullerton.

EDUCATION

Mayor Rodriguez earned his undergraduate degree at California State University, San Bernardino; and his Master of Arts Degree from California State University, Fullerton.

PERSONAL

Mayor Rodriguez and his wife, Rhonda, are the proud parents of two children, Ryan and Rebekah who attend local Yorba Linda public schools.  He coached Yorba Linda youth sports for many years.
